Cultural Multi-day Discover Tours

There is no better way to explore the Kyrgyz culture in South Shore of Issyk-Kul than by joining a multi-day adventure. With some of the most unique landscape in Central Asia, the southern shore of Lake Issyk-Kul is the ideal destination for travelers to combine getting cultural impressions and feeling the incredible nature. What’s more, multi-day discover tours offer a unique combination of culture, history and nature. Cultural options are eagle hunting, yurt building, sleeping in a yurt and eating local meals. Historical sites and museums can be visited, which give you insights of Kyrgyz nomads life. You do not want to miss out on this untouched nature with waterfalls and lakes surrounded by massiv mountains.

For locals in rural Kyrgyzstan, the yurt is their first home – as simple as it is. Yurt homestays in the mountains of Kyrgyzstan were not created as a product for tourists – they became popular precisely because of the authentic lifestyle they represent. Old Soviet-style small houses side-by-side on village streets with real nomads’ yurts; and all of it overlooking the beautiful shores of lake Issyk-Kol. This is an excellent place to experience authentic culture, and to live a day in the life of these Kyrgyz nomads.

Our multi-day tours may include interaction with locals’ daily life; participation in building yurts, cooking local food, the felt making process, and eagle hunting demonstrations. If you’re lucky enough to time your visit to coincide with a local festival, you’ll also have the chance to enjoy watching local dancers, singers, hunters, and other performers.

The second canyon called Aksay is totally different from the first. Still very untouched. Enjoy panoramic view points. You will experience impressive hiking-trips with the most beautiful views and the local cuisine at meals. The night you will stay in a traditional yurt camp.

Sonkul Isszk-kul Tour (4 days)

Son Kul lake and Issyk Kul lake: Two of the most beautiful, the most desired and most visited lakes of Kyrgyzstan. They both are located in the mountains. Son Kul is at 3016m above the sea level. Issyk Kul at 1650m above the sea level. They are very different from one another and that is why you can enjoy different experiences.

Day 1:

Depart towards Son Kul Lake.

First stop on the way is Burana Tower. We discover and walk around very famous ruins of the watch tower of the 9th century. We visit a museum where the guide tells you the story about this magic place. You can see ancient tools, which were found during the excavation in this area. You can also catch some fascinating pictures from the top of the tower. From there you have a nice scenic view over beautiful mountains .

We continue our drive to the small town called Kochkor. This place is well known for its handicraft makers. We enjoy lunch there and visit a local souvenir shop, where you get the chance to buy of national souvenirs by very reasonable price.
After lunch, we continue our trip to Son Kul lake. This alpine lake sits above 3000m and is surrounded by nomadic shepherds, looking after yaks, donkeys, goats and horses. After our arrival to Son Kul lake, we have some free time to explore the area. Get close to the lake, or hike at the nearby mountains as you prefer. Traditional dinner will be prepared at the yurt camp, where we will stay for overnight.

Day 2:

In the morning we have breakfast at Song Kul before saying goodbye and driving down to Kyrgyzstan’s other legendary lake – Issyk Kul. In this area we stay in another high-end yurt camp near the shores of the lake. Having lunch at the camp before we head off to what is promised to be one of the highlights of the trip – an eagle hunting demonstration, hosted by a world champion! A close-up experience of how man and eagle work together for centuries in Central Asia. A very strong connection. If you like you can even hold the eagle yourself. Be prepared for a heavy weight bird which is seen as the king of the sky.

Day 3:

Lets hit the road in the early morning. We start the day’s adventures with a visit to Skazka Canyon, also known as Fairytale Canyon. This spectacular sandstone formation is like one giant playground for adults, and we’ll spend around an hour to climb all over the gorgeous canyon and take pictures of the rainbow-like formations. Second amazing stop will be a Barskoon gorge with its waterfalls. Easy hikes will bring us to some of them. Afterwards we continue on our way towards Jeti Oguz to get a gorgeous view of the Seven Bulls rock formation. In the late afternoon we arrive in the cool town of Karakol, and check in to our awesome homestay. Dinner will be in an excellent local restaurant.
